Book Review: “Out of Hiding” by Rachel Dylan

August 4, 2014

Her two greatest enemies. Could she work with one to take down the other?

Cover for Out of Hiding

Private investigator Sadie Lane has an opportunity to bring down the man who murdered her parents in Out of Hiding, a new romantic suspense novel by Rachel Dylan.

At age eight, Sadie witnessed the murder of her parents and was forced into foster care and Witness Protection. As an adult, her work as a P.I. has done little to heal her pain or to assuage her obsession with her parents’ killer—a man who now leads a human trafficking ring. When she’s called upon to find a missing sixteen-year-old girl, she comes face-to-face with her old nemesis.

Kip Moore is an FBI agent with a troubled past and a hardened heart. When he encounters Sadie through their mutual interest in taking down the trafficking ring, he finds hope that he might be able to love again.

But Sadie doesn’t trust the FBI, which failed to protect her parents all those years ago. She can’t let Kip get too close, or let him know that she’s not who he thinks she is.

Will Sadie learn to trust Kip, and bring her true identity out of hiding?

In this debut novel from author Rachel Dylan, serious issues—a child witnessing to her parents’ murders; a group of girls facing the horror of being kidnapped by a trafficking ring—are given a light touch. The short format of the Love Inspired Suspense imprint necessitates a swift pace, and Ms. Dylan strikes a nice balance between the blossoming love story and the perilous situation the two main characters find themselves in.

Out of Hiding will keep you in suspense till the final page.
