BOOKS I READ IN 2020

December 31, 2020

My Year in Books

This year was, to say the least, unusual. I did less reading than normal, mostly because the loss of my theatre job meant that I lost my audiobook-listening time in the car.

You can see my pattern of reading. I started out inhaling Hollywood memoirs, then took a side road with some borderline political bios. When I got back into a regular reading routine, it was very spiritually motivated. Then onward to politics/psychology and finishing up with some uplifting inspiration.

  1. THE BASSOON KING by Rainn Wilson
  2. WHY WE SNAP: UNDERSTANDING THE RAGE CIRCUIT IN YOUR BRAIN by Douglas Fields
  3. INSIDE OUT: A MEMOIR by Demi Moore
  4. THERE YOU’LL FIND ME by Jennie B. Jones
  5. THE BLUE CASTLE by Lucy Maud Montgomery
  6. SURVIVING AGENT ORANGE, AND OTHER THINGS I LEARNED FROM BEING THROWN UNDER THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY BUS by Gretchen Bonaduce
  7. SEND YOURSELF ROSES by Kathleen Turner
  8. SHIRLEY JONES: A MEMOIR by Shirley Jones
  9. BAD BLOOD: SECRETS AND LIES IN A SILICON VALLEY STARTUP  by John Carryrou
  10. WHY NOT ME? by Mindy Kaling
  11. OPEN BOOK: A MEMOIR by Jessica Simpson
  12. GOLDEN HANDCUFFS: THE SECRET HISTORY OF TRUMP’S WOMEN by Nina Burleigh
  13. THE SECOND MOUNTAIN by David Brooks
  14. THE ART OF HER DEAL: THE UNTOLD STORY OF MELANIA TRUMP by Mary Jordan
  15. TIPPING POINT: THE END IS HERE by Jimmy Evans
  16. HEAVEN: A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO EVERYTHING THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT OUR ETERNAL HOME by Randy Alcorn
  17. HOAX: DONALD TRUMP, FOX NEWS, AND THE DANGEROUS DISTORTION OF TRUTH by Brian Stelter
  18. THE CULT OF TRUMP: A LEADING CULT EXPERT EXPLAINS HOW THE PRESIDENT USES MIND CONTROL by Steven Hassan
  19. THE FIFTH RISK by Michael Lewis
  20. YOU ARE THE GIRL FOR THE JOB: DARING TO BELIEVE THE GOD WHO CALLS YOU by Jess Connolly

I’d love to see your list for the past year. What was your favorite book that you read in 2020?

You read more widely than I do. I read only clean fiction–romance and romantic suspense. I didn’t keep a list of favorites, but my favorite author is Irene Hannon–in spit of the fact that she refers to “irises” instead of “eyes,” and almost alway has a red-headed heroine who has green eyes and wears a green silk blouse and black pencil skirt. 😉 Her suspense line in her books is always awesome.

    Hugs and Happy New Year.

I enjoy Irene Hannon’s books too. I haven’t read enough to have noticed that red-haired, green-eyed pattern, but I will now! I always think of you when I read the word “irises,” since you pointed that one out to me.

Have a Happy and Blessed New Year, Sylvia!
