Safe-in-His-Arms

Anastasia pushed hair back out of her face. “I’m learning to keep people at arm’s length. I haven’t always done that, you know. In a lot of ways, it’s made things easier.” She lifted her chin and peeked at him from beneath her lashes. “But it also scares me. I’m not sure where to draw the line. I don’t want to be one of those women who wakes up at fifty completely alone.” She shifted slightly and leaned against his side.

Joel gently tugged her to him, engulfing her in his arms. A sigh escaped her and he laid his cheek against her silky hair. “You aren’t alone. You don’t have to be.” She tilted her head back to glimpse his face. “You have all of us. You have me.” He touched her chin with his thumb and placed a whisper of a kiss to her forehead. “I understand that instinct to hold back and protect yourself. It’s only natural. But it’s not something you have to do with me. Or the rest of the gang.” They heard the front door open and Joel dropped his hand from her chin to her shoulder. “You okay?”

“Better.” Anastasia stepped away from him and took in a breath. “You seem to have that effect on me. You know, when you’re not making me mad.” Her watery eyes twinkled.

It’s so much fun finding an author whose work I enjoy. Discovering that she has several books out is a bonus! Now let’s get to know a little about Melanie D. Snitker, author of SAFE IN HIS ARMS (Life Unexpected Book 1):

Do you work on more than one project at once?

For the most part, I work on one project at a time until I’ve reached the editing phase. At that point, while I’m waiting to hear back from my critique group or beta readers, I start to plot out the next book I’ll be working on. I’ve never been able to actually write more than one book at a time. Once I start writing, I focus all of my energy on that one story until the first draft is complete.

How important are book covers to you, as both an author and a reader?

In my humble opinion, they are incredibly important. In general, if the cover doesn’t look professional, I won’t buy the book to read it. Which is sad, because I have read a few books that were absolutely amazing, yet had cheap-looking covers. Because of this, as an author, I’m determined to independently publish books with quality covers on them. I have a designer who has created all of mine and I absolutely love them. I am incredibly comfortable with Photoshop and I’m a photographer, but I don’t have the skills needed to create an eye-catching book cover. I leave that to a professional!

What are your hobbies (other than writing)?

I enjoy photography, reading, gaming (Nintendo or computer), learning about essential oils, archery, camping, and crocheting. I also do a lot of baking and cooking for my family. I’m always learning more about canning and dehydrating foods, which I find interesting and fun.

Do you have a dream project…something you’re planning to write someday?

I have a dystopian series in mind that I’d like to put to paper in a couple of years. I also have a science fiction trilogy I want to finish and publish at some point. I wrote the first book when I was in college and it’s just been sitting there, gathering dust. It needs a lot of polish, but I look forward to doing that and writing the other two books. I started out writing science fiction before I ever turned to general fiction and romance. I enjoy all of them, though!

Have you written other books that have been published?

I have a standalone novel called Calming the Storm (A Marriage of Convenience). I’ve also been building on my Love’s Compass series. There are four books published so far, with a fifth coming out later this year. I originally thought I’d have only five or six books in the series, but every time I finish one, two more future stories come to mind. The series and characters have a mind of their own and that’s always a lot of fun.

Do you have a blog? If so where can we find it?

Yes, I do have a blog. I tend to write posts about anything from recipes, projects, and photography to essential oils. I talk about my writing and have guest authors from time to time as well. http://www.melaniedsnitker.com/

Where can readers find your books?

All of my books are available digitally from Amazon. Paperback copies are available from Amazon as well as Barnes and Noble.
