Islands of Intrigue series, book 1
A scream gargled at the back of Devynne Lang’s throat, jolting her from a terrorized slumber. With a whimper, she kicked back covers tangled against damp legs, yanked open the nightstand drawer, and fumbled for the familiar feel of her .38 special.
Unfortunately for Devynne Lang, this is the way she’s been living for the past four years.
In spite of her hope to build a quiet, safe life for her daughter Marissa, widowed former movie actress Devynne hasn’t managed to escape a dreadful secret. Forced by a stalker to fake her own death and go into hiding on beautiful San Juan Island, just north of Seattle, Devynne thought she had forged a new identity for herself. She had met and married Kent Lang, a police officer, and they’d had Marissa. Then tragedy struck, leaving her to raise her daughter alone.
Now, four years after Kent’s death, Devynne’s past is catching up with her.
Carcen Lang will stop at nothing to keep his brother’s widow and his young niece safe. When he discovers the truth about Devynne- a secret that might have something to do with his brother’s death- he vows to find the man responsible. But falling in love with Devynne was more than he planned on. Can he convince her to let her guard down, and to risk loving again?
This book kept me turning the virtual pages and wondering who Devynne should trust. Lynnette does a great job of interweaving the suspense with the tentative romance that slowly blossoms between Devynne and Carcen. This is a couple with much at stake, and the uncertainty of their relationship adds to the tension of Devynne’s precarious situation. She doesn’t know the identity of her stalker. Who can she really trust?
I’m so excited to be a part of the Islands of Intrigue series. My book, “Tide Will Tell”, will be out this winter. Book 3 in the series, “Deceptive Tide” by Janalyn Voigt, will be released in spring of 2014.

The UnrelentingTide sounds great. Having spent many summers in the San Juan Islands, I can’t wait to immerse myself in that world again. And best of all, the entertainment will continue with two more books in the series from authors Lesley McDaniel and Janalyn Voigt. I look forward to seeing how each story comes to life on the page!

Thanks, Allison. We had so much fun on our retreat last summer in the San Juans. I want to go back! I hope the feel of the locations rings true to you.
lesleyannmc says
That is “locations ring”, not rings. Typing too fast again:)

It was nice to read your announcement of the first book of the series, and also find your site. This story sounds really exciting. Any contest giveaways on this book? I would be glad to do a spot on my site.
lesleyannmc says
I’ll ask Lynnette about giveaways, and pass your offer on to her. Sounds great!

She did contact me! Thanks. While I am a struggling unpublished writer, I might as well help you all! Let me know if I can assist you.
lesleyannmc says
Oh good! Yes, it’s all about help each other. In life…in our writing…
I’ll take a closer look at your blog, but what are you writing with the intention of publishing?

I submitted 2 entries to the Frasier. One is a historical, other is Romantic Suspense. i will find out in June how I did. Right now I am working on a Medical Suspense and Devotional. I am still learning a lot and haven’t completed a full manuscript, but hope to when I get result back from the 1,500 word entries. I will then dedicate my time to completing one. That s my goal! In the meantime, I am a social, but partially physically disabled writer, attempting to be a support to other authors. ACFW is a wonderful place to make friends, yeah?

You’ve been busy. My experience with feedback from contests has been that it’s enormously helpful, so that’s a good way to go. I’ve just started dabbling with ACFW, but I’m enjoying the contact with other writers. I lean more toward Facebook, but it’s good to have other lines in the water too.
Your support of others is much appreciated and will payoff many times over!
