Please join me in celebrating the release of two new “home-based” sets of Christmas novels for this holiday season!
Even though we’ve all spent more time than usual at home over the past couple of years, we still long for the comforts of home, family, and friends during the holidays. These collections of Christian Christmas novels bring “home” the spirit of the season. Let’s get to know some of the authors and find out how we were inspired to write our stories.
Home for Christmas: The Christmas Lights Collection
Today, we’re meeting Toni Shiloh, author of Most Wonderful Time, and finding out her inspiration for writing this book. Take it away, Toni!
Most Wonderful Time is the third book in the Lewis Family series, so I knew that I was going to tell the story of another Lewis sibling. After I chose Gabe (I did a poll amongst readers), I had to figure out the story. It was while doing the Story Chats @ InspyRomance podcast that I decided my heroine would be a military veteran. It was easy to make her Air Force since I served six years in the branch.
Since I’m not a plotter, the story revolved around my heroine. I knew something prevented her from continuing to serve her country and that Christmas was NOT her favorite time of year. From there she told me the rest of the story.
Gabe Lewis is her perfect opposite in that he loves Christmas. How can he not when his family celebrates it every year and all of him and his siblings have Christmas-inspired names? When he discovers Shanée Mitchell is not a fan, he sets out to discover the whys and bring her some holiday cheer.
I set it in Washington, D.C., which is fun because I usually pick fictional towns to write in. Since I live within driving distance to our nation’s capital, it’s easy to find Christmas activities to write about.
Writing a Lewis Family sibling every year has become one of my favorite things to do. I hope you enjoy Home for Christmas this holiday season!
