Whole30 Day 27: Did You Know You Can Make Your Own Almond Flour?

Thank goodness there’s an affordable version of our new favorite flour alternative.

I can tell from the food conversations I’m having with my girls, and the recipes they’re pinning to our Whole30 recipe board, that we have dessert on the brain. The very idea of never having any kind of sweet treat again is just too much to accept, and fortunately the good people of Whole30 understand that.

I’ve looked at eating programs that try to guilt you into never letting a cookie darken your door again, but that’s no way to live. Actually, I believe it’s that kind of thinking that sets people up for failure.

Personally, I’m fine with adapting recipes to use healthier ingredients, and one of my new favorite substitutes is almond flour. It’s a great alternative for anyone who wants to avoid grains, but still wants to enjoy the occasional baked good. But if you look for it in the store, you might be disheartened by what it threatens to do to your budget. If it comes down to a choice between baking cookies and sending the kids to college, it’s time to take action.

So get out your food processor, and start counting your savings. Here’s a simple recipe from Detoxinista:
