This seems like a good day to share my true motivation for doing the Whole30 program.
Now that I have the security of being a third of the way through the Whole30, I feel confident enough to share my reason for doing it. I’ve had arthritis in my hip for a number of years now, and it’s finally gotten to the point where the pain of change is less than the pain of walking. Yes, I’d rather be able to walk from my car to my workplace without fear of falling flat on my face than eat a chocolate chip cookie. And I do love chocolate chip cookies.
Not that I’ll never be able to eat cookies again, mind you. But I’ve hit the point in my journey through life where I’ve realized that we really can’t have everything the way we want it all the time. We have to make choices. Yeah, I knew that already, but it’s finally hit home.
It’s been a long time since I’ve actually felt hopeful that my physical situation is going to improve. I’m looking forward to giving a progress report at the end of my 30 days.
